Gconsulting International Services Ltd, a leading consulting firm in technology innovation and microfinance, has announced the launch of Chainfinance, a new project that aims to equip microfinance operators and regulators in Africa and Middle East with the knowledge and skills to overcome the challenges and seize the opportunities in the microfinance sector, by leveraging blockchain technology to innovate their products and processes.
Chainfinance is a three-day workshop that will be hosted in four African countries (Gabon, Kenya, Rwanda, and Liberia) and two Middle East countries (Dubai and Jordan) with the theme, “Chainfinance for Innovating Microfinance and Social Impact”. The workshop will bring together 25-30 microfinance practitioners and policymakers from various institutions and regions and will be facilitated by experienced microfinance and blockchain experts from Labour Business School, Veritas University, Gconsulting International Services Ltd, and Microfact.
The workshop will cover topics such as the overview of microfinance and blockchain, the infrastructural and social challenges, the legal and regulatory challenges, the competition and innovation, the mission drift and social performance, the human resource and capacity building as well as field visit to growing blockchain and microfinance firms in the country and region.
The project which is expected to increase awareness and understanding of the concepts, principles, and trends of microfinance and blockchain among the stakeholders, enhance capacity and skills of the participants to cope with the challenges and leverage the opportunities in the microfinance sector, using blockchain technology, develop action plans and strategies for implementing blockchain-based solutions for microfinance development in Nigeria as well as increase social impact and financial inclusion for the low-income individuals or groups in the target countries.
